Rachel Condie Thoerig, PhD, is skilled at finding the answers to problems and attention to detail which helps keep quality of work high. She received her BS in Biology from the University of Texas at El Paso. During her PhD in Nutritional Science from Texas A&M University, she helped plan and manage a national program evaluation assessing the impact of a major Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) food package overhaul.  

Before taking time off to raise her kids, she worked at the USDA’s Human Nutrition Research Center. She conducted quality control assessments for USDA’s Food Patterns Equivalents Databases (FPED), which are used by policymakers and researchers to assess food consumption of Americans. She studied the foods that are consumed in the American diet and how their ingredients change over the years. She enjoys pressure cooking, playing the ukulele, and spending time with family.
