Associate Director
Maureen Spill, Ph.D., is the Associate Director at the Texas A&M Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Evidence Center. She received her BS in Food Science from the Pennsylvania State University, her MS in Food Science from the University of California-Davis, and her PhD in Nutrition Science from the Pennsylvania State University.
Dr. Spill has more than 20 years of food and nutrition research experience. She was a lead analyst for the USDA’s Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion Nutrition Evidence Systematic Review (NESR) team from 2014–2022. She led systematic reviews used to inform the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2015-2020 and 2020-2025 editions. Her interest is in advancing review methodology and tools. Prior to her work with NESR, she was a senior research associate on the Kids’ Safe and Healthful Foods team at Pew Charitable Trusts, a post-doctorate fellow in the Laboratory of Human Ingestive Behavior at Penn State University, and a senior researcher at Campbell Arnott’s in Sydney, Australia.
