Interim Director
Maureen Spill, Ph.D., is Interim Director of the Texas A&M Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Evidence Center. Before assuming the Interim Director role at the beginning of 2025, she had served as the founding program lead of the Evidence Center’s Nutrition and Health Program since 2022.
Dr. Spill has more than 20 years of food and nutrition research experience. She was a lead analyst for the USDA’s Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion Nutrition Evidence Systematic Review (NESR) team from 2014–2022. She led systematic reviews used to inform the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2015-2020 and 2020-2025 editions.
Her interest is in advancing review methodology and tools.
Prior to her work with NESR, she was a senior research associate on the Kids’ Safe and Healthful Foods team at Pew Charitable Trusts, a post-doctorate fellow in the Laboratory of Human Ingestive Behavior at Penn State University, and a senior researcher at Campbell Arnott’s in Sydney, Australia.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in food science from the Pennsylvania State University, a master’s degree in food science from the University of California-Davis, and a doctorate in nutrition science from the Pennsylvania State University.
